Description
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Per chevron pean and Vert, a chevron enhanced Or and in base a serpent entwined with a prickly pear cactus all Gold.  Attached below the shield a Gold scroll inscribed FIGHT TO DEFEND in Green letters.

Symbolism
Yellow is a color of historic association with the US Cavalry and the spear-like point of gold is symbolic of the power of the Cavalry forces and the tactics they employ.  The field of back with gold ermine spots (pean) and the green with gold cactus and snake are allusions to the former 240th Tank Battalion with which Troop A was associated in the past.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 22 October 1982.
